Bridport boys Fraser Brill and Zeke Richardson will represent the state at the 2020 Australasian Scooter Nationals in Melbourne in May after an impressive performance at the state final in Hobart last weekend.

The nine-year-olds qualified by making the top 10 in the under 10 category at the State Titles, with Zeke coming in second and Fraser fourth.

The pair have climbed the ladder quickly after starting scooter competitions just six months ago.

Since then they have competed in Longford, George Town, Devonport and Hobart.

Mum Kate Brill said the boys started riding for fun around two years ago and when they came across the competitions last year they were keen to get involved.

“They have both done so well in such a short space of time,” she said.

In competitions, each rider has a 45 second run to go out on their own and do what they can.

A board of three judges marks them on their ability to do hard trick and they get points taken off it they come off or don’t land a trick.

Mrs Brill said both boys will travel to Melbourne in March ahead of the nationals to get some coaching from pro-scooter rider Brenton Taylor.

“He will give them some one-on-one lessons at The Shed which is a big indoor skate park.”

Zeke and Fraser will take on other riders from around the nation in May at Empire, with a chance of making it to the world title.

If you’re keen to follow Fraser and Zeke’s scooter journey, they have both set up Instagram accounts (@fraser_2010 and @zeke_richo) where they share their runs at Australian Scooter Association competitions and videos of them practicing tricks.
