Police sirens were wailing and lights flashing at the Jetsonville Playgroup this week, not that anything was amiss.

Playgroup president Brogan Hayes said the police were invited to attend to show children something different.

“We might get the fire brigade to come along next term.

“But having the police here helped familiarise the children with them, break down some barriers and show they were helpful and not to be afraid of.

“They spoke to the children about their uniform, safety and how they help the community.”

However, the attending police officers eventually had to play second fiddle with the arrival of Easter bunny for the last playgroup for term one.
