The Scottsdale Under 12s etched themselves into the club's history books on Sunday when they became the first club team to win a NTJFA premiership.
The team which lost just one match during the season were dominant throughout their grand final against Tamar and led from start to finish in front of a vocal group pf supporters who travelled to Longford for the big occasion.
An early goal to Jamieson Nunn set the tone, and two more from Eli Jones and Tom Hadley sealed the match.
Coach Manuel Hall assisted by Neil Oliver have mentored the boys for a couple of years, and they gave the opportunity for all 25 boys to be part of the premiership team.
“We were very proud of them, they all did an exceptional job and everyone played their role excellently,” Manuel said.
With a massive turn out of family members they were given one task, to barrack as loud as they could from the sides – the atmosphere was truly electric.
Not surprisingly captain Tom Hadley was adjudged best on ground, and he was presented with his award.
He was also adjudged winner of the association best and fairest trophy.
“When you start reeling off names of who put in a great effort on the day, you’d be naming the whole team.
“Having said that Jed Gofton was inspirational in the last quarter attacking the footy really well, Thomas Wesley was all over the field and took some good marks, Oliver Freeland was very consistent and Black Hopkins got around the footy all day.
“They showcase what it means to be a team, well done boys.”
The Under 12s, Under 14s and 14 girls have their dinner at the clubrooms on Saturday night.
