February 9, 2021

Joshua Stewart Holbein of Derby pleaded guilty to one count of unlicensed driving on Esk Road Conara last October.
Shortly before 3pm on October 3, 2020 police on mobile patrol intercepted a red Holden Apollo travelling East on the Esk Main Road Conara.
The defendant presented his licence to police and subsequent checks conducted on the status of that licence and confirmed the licence had expired on Jan 5, 2020.
At the time there was one male passenger in the vehicle and the driver had no priors.
Mr Holbein told the judge that he had overlooked renewing his license.
“It just completely slipped my mind.”
Mr Holbein was fined $150 for being forgetful and court costs of $85.86 without conviction.
Tracey Lee Cox-Pregnall of Oatlands pleaded guilty to unlicensed driving in an unregistered motor vehicle.
Shortly before 7.30pm on Wednesday October 21, 2020 police were on mobile patrol in Main Street Derby when they intercepted a white Hyundai Excel driving towards Branxholm.
A subsequent check on the registration of the motor vehicle revealed the registration on that car had expired on September 25, 2020.
Ms Cox-Pregnall submitted to a breath test and returned a negative result.
A check on police system showed that the defendant’s L2 novice licence had expired on September 18, 2020 and she did not have a learner driver instructing her at the time.
Ms Cox-Pregnall stated to police she was unlicensed, but she had recently purchased the vehicle and believed it to be registered.
She stated her reasoning for driving was she was trying to get some firewood for a campfire.
Ms Cox-Pregnall had not attempted to transfer the registration into her name and did not have a receipt for the purchase of the motor vehicle.
Ms Cox-Pregnall received two-month licence suspension order and court costs of $68.04.
A Branxholm woman, who cannot be named due to a police family violence order, pleaded guilty to a charge of common assault.
The defendant unlawfully assaulted a male she had been involved with while intoxicated on July 28, 2020 by punching and using abusive language on him as well as assaulting the attending police officer in the act of spitting and verbal abuse.
The woman agreed to promise the court that she would continue to work on her mental health and addiction with a program for 12 months.
The judge ruled a 7F undertaking with a conviction and the woman was fined $750 and levies of $60.00.
A number of other matters were adjourned for hearing at the next session in Scottsdale on March 23, 2021.
