Work is on track for two slow vehicle passing lanes on the Tasman Highway between Branxholm and Scottsdale.

In April the construction of passing opportunities commenced for a slow vehicle lane near Rocky Gully and a westbound lane near Rocky Gully and Billycock Hill.

A Department of State Growth spokesperson said works have progressed well and so far.

“The turnouts will be installed east of Jensens Road at Rocky Gully for east-bound traffic and west of Snake Track at Billycock Hill for west-bound traffic.

“These turnouts will deliver improved road safety and travel time predictability for all road users travelling between Branxholm and Scottsdale.

“Earthworks and road widening in preparation for the remaining road base and final seal when the warmer weather returns.”

As of Monday July 7, the project has shut down for winter.

“Works will start again in September/October 2023, when warmer and drier weather will allow for the next stage of works which includes sealing and other construction activities. These works will continue until December 2023, weather permitting.

“During the shutdown we will monitor the site and make sure it is safe, but we won’t be actively working.

“The speed limit will remain at 80km/h.

“Remember to drive to the conditions and obey all signage and traffic management,” the Department spokesperson said.
