Locals are asked to dig deep and pull out their best pink attire for Events@Bridport’s upcoming family fun day, which is raising funds and awareness for breast cancer.
Co-organiser Ros Gerke said this is the first event the committee has held an event for Breast Cancer awareness month but they are hoping it will attract community-wide support.
“Cancer affects so many people in many different ways so it would be great to see a good crowd on the day,” she said.
“We would like to encourage everyone to wear pink on the day plus it would be great to see all the shops and businesses decorate their windows with pink.
“We will be offering a Best on Ground prize for the person who gets most into the pink theme.”
Held on the Village Green on Saturday October 26, the event will have something for the whole family.
There will be a delicious selection of foods including Cheesecake Baculo, hot spuds, a barbeque and cheese plates, along with a beer and wine tent.
Scottsdale High School’s Pink Ladies will be there along with a few other cast members, performing some numbers from their upcoming production of Grease.
There will also be live music from The Blackouts, Jan and Glen Foster and a performance from the Bee Bop dancers.
For the younger attendees there will be plenty of old-fashioned fun, including tug-o-war, egg and spoon races, giant connect four and Jenga and a merry go round.
This will be a smoke free event, with no pets and no BYO.
There will be a gold coin donation on entry which will go to the Breast Cancer Awareness fund.
Events@Bridport will also donate part of their takings from the day.
Head down to the Village Green on October 26 to catch all the action between 3-7pm.
