Bogged BMW abandoned

A silver BMW sedan has been abandoned south west of Croppies Beach at Waterhouse after becoming severely bogged in the sand on Friday.
Scottsdale Police received a call from the owners notifying them of their situation before deciding to abandon their vehicle and presumably come back for at a later date.
“Unfortunately, there is little we can do if someone gets themselves into this position, other than make some recommendations and suggestions for help, it’s the owner’s responsibility to get themselves out,” Sergeant Andrew Hanson said.
Since Friday it appears the vehicle has become the victim of stealing and damage with windows smashed in, number plates stripped and severe water destruction.
“Don’t ask me why but people seem to think they’re fair game if they get bogged, it most certainly is not. It is still a criminal offence to steal from or damage the car,” Sergeant Hanson said.
Parks and Wildlife (PWS) were made aware of the issue and it is believed they will work with the owner to try and remove the car before it becomes a hazard; however due to the daily rising tide it’s unclear how much petrol and oil has already seeped into the ocean.
“PWS is liaising with Tasmania Police and investigations are underway to determine the circumstances around how the car came to be abandoned at this location.
“Options regarding the removal of the car are currently being considered,” a PWS spokesperson said.
