Phyllis reflects on a good life
Phyllis Baker retired to the North-East around 20 years ago with her husband, enjoying many happy years together in Bridport where their daughter lives.
At 90 years of age, Mrs Baker now calls Aminya home.
When asked her best dating advice, she said to be honest in all that you do is one of the most important things.
If given the chance to go back and change one thing from her life she said she wouldn’t change much, having spent 70 wonderful years happily married to her husband.
“If anything I would travel more I think, I didn’t travel much as a young married person we just brought up our kids and didn’t have the money to do it,” she said.
Mrs Baker recalls their first fridge bought second hand costing 80 pounds.
She said they didn’t have much money and when her husband, who was a panel beater and spray painter, finished work of a night he’d go picking up potatoes for extra money which paid for their kitchen suite.
Mrs Baker said she has many fond memories but the most cherished are raising their two beautiful children.
The Advertiser has conducted a series of brief interviews with Aminya residents which will be published over the coming months.
