A three course home cooked country meal with proceeds going to charity all for $20, sign me up right?

Thanks to the Mountney family, with head chef Glenda, you can enjoy this very delight featuring her famous bangers and mash on Friday July 1 at the Scottsdale Football Clubrooms.

After losing her beloved husband Francis last year Glenda wanted to do something to aid the May Shaw facility where he spent his final days.

“Francis was there for nearly a year before he passed, it’s a great facility and we hope this event can raise enough money to put towards a wheelchair and some recliner chairs for other patients and families to enjoy,” she said.

Glenda grew up in the kitchen with her mother, and both of her parents were heavily involved in catering for the community during their years.

“Before I was married, I used to decorate wedding cakes and I’ve catered for things all my life.

“Mum was a fairly old-fashioned cook and regulars were dishes like ox tail stew, wallaby stew and shepherds pie.

“My signature dish is a sponge cake, and the secret is to always use fresh farm eggs.”

Glenda said there is something to be said about good, creamy mashed potatoes and pudding.

“It’s full of all the naughty stuff like butter, cream and milk.

“I’ll be making a hot apple and blackberry sponge as well as a chocolate ripple cake for dessert on Friday – people won’t go hungry.”

Alongside the food there will be an auction, raffle and lucky door prizes.

“We are so grateful to everyone who has donated and hope many turn out in support on Friday,” she said.

Books are preferred as there are limited numbers and $20 per head.

Tickets are available for purchase via cash only at the Scottsdale Shoe Shop or McLennans Butchery. For more information call Glenda on 6352 4918.
