Progress work on Scottsdale’s Northbourne Park development has passed muster with the family of the project’s benefactor Bert and Peg Farquhar.

The couple’s three daughters recently visited the site, on land formerly farmed by the local identity, and left delighted with the development concept and work so far.

The Northbourne Park Board Chair, Robin Thompson, said the Dorset Council and the Board shared the view that retirement and aged care support could drive development of the local economy.

“Council has provided support with rezoning the Farquhar land to enable the development, advocating for government support for the project and by waiving development fees.

“Staff have been available to provide technical and procedural advice, which has helped with the approvals necessary to allow construction to start.”

The development has required upgrading some council infrastructure to cater for extra volumes of storm water.

This work which has involved installation of new, bigger pipes along Fosters Road has been undertaken by the same civil contractor that’s working on Northbourne Park.

“The civil construction phase for the first stage of the project will be completed by the end of May, when building of the first villas will start,” Mr Thompson said.

Pricing of the 19 villas in stage one will be available soon.

Design and fit-out choices have been completed and als will soon be available from the website www.northbourneparkretirementvillage.com or through discussions with the village administrator.
