Waste woes addressed

Talk has been swirling throughout the community regarding the accurate and current laws surrounding the disposal of waste at the Scottsdale Tip.
The confusion began when a string of cars were turned away at the gate by Scottsdale Police two Wednesday’s ago on April 8.
This was followed by a Facebook message posted by Dorset Council suggesting that everyday rubbish and green waste disposal was a non-essential reason for travel (unless it directly relates to your business) under the current restrictions.
The post was later deleted.
Mayor Greg Howard said at the time there was obviously confusion about what is and isn’t allowed.
“It’s conceivable that people will get things wrong given we are in uncharted territory and we are all trying to navigate our way through this,” he said.
To clarify, the Scottsdale Waste Transfer Station is open and operating business as usual with the exception of the tip shop which is closed.
There are no restrictions on green waste or general waste, or restrictions on whether you have curb side collection or not.
“However, we do expect people to be turning up with full loads, not one or two garbage bags or half a load of grass clippings.
“People should be completely avoiding unnecessary travel to the tip and contact with Council staff if they can,” Mayor Howard said.
“If you don't absolutely have to leave your property for essential items, you should stay home and save lives.”
The Scottsdale Tip is open on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and weekends.
