USUALLY what happens on a boys’ trip stays on a boy’s trip but the rules have been broken this year, and for good reason with four of the 17 mates in tow celebrating big birthday milestones.
Dubbed the ‘birthday ride’, long-time local friends set out on a four-day dirt bike trip down the West Coast of Tasmania to Granville Harbour.
Riding from Granville Harbour to Trial Harbour and over to Pieman Heads during their stay.
The remote and rugged place proved to be the perfect setting for the annual occasion with rough weather, drowned bikes and loads of laughs. Not to mention a few beers.
David Crack said this ride was of special significance because four of the guys were celebrating their 60th and 70th birthdays.
“Turning the big 60 were Michael Dobson, Rodney Calder and Craig Bye, and Peter Willoughby celebrated his 70th,” he said.
“We presented the guys with a ‘years gone by’ plaque full of pictures, signatures and memories of their years growing up with bikes.”
“This one was pretty important because we aren’t getting any younger,” David laughed.
“Some of the guys got up and made a speech, it was a great trip.”
