A member of the Bridport Girl Guides has reached a peak of achievement for her age.

Nine-year old Charlotte Stevens has earned a Junior BP (Baden Powell) Award named for the originator of the worldwide scouting movement.

As part of the service component of the awards program Charlotte decided to make bags and fill them with goodies to entertain and divert children during hospital visits.

“While in the North-East Soldiers Memorial Hospital Scottsdale waiting to be seen by a doctor or for transfer to the Launceston General Hospital they usually become quite frightened,” she said.

The bags contained a bear personally stuffed with love by Charlotte, coloured pencils and colouring book and a small story book that she hoped the children would enjoy.
