A Tiny house on wheels has been proposed for Pioneer as a new short-term accommodation option for guests in the town.

The application has been submitted to Dorset Council by owners Michael and Masa Ofei of Launceston for 3 Moore Street.

The block is currently vacant.

It’s estimated “The Little Pioneer” would cost approximately $140,000 to build.

The external walls would be red hard cement cladding, with red corrugated tin on the roof.

The application includes concept sketches by Artisan Tiny Homes, who specialise in building bespoke tiny homes.

In a separate development application, two visitor accommodation units have also been proposed for Derby, one at 50 Main Street and one at 2 Church Street.

The Main Street development, owned by Ryle Johnsen of Victoria, includes a new unit, complementing an existing visitor accommodation unit, and a new pergola.

Meanwhile, in Church Street, owners Richard Pohl and Julieann Buchanan propose to convert the former church built in 1900 into visitor accommodation.

The development features an extension, including a third bedroom, two bathrooms, a lockable robe and pantry, laundry, kitchen and dining space and a bike storage area.

There would be a new stone retaining wall and a stone clad wall spanning the church and extension.

All applications are currently before Council.
