Starting each day by the beach watching the sun greet the water is exactly how Bridport’s Jen Barron has spent her mornings for the past year.

The free spirited local embarked on the journey on March 23, 2020 promising to sit for ten minutes Monday to Friday and watch the sunrise throughout the year.

Ms Barron shares a live clip of the event with others on her Facebook group.

“The Facebook group is called 10Minutes at Sunrise and has over 700 members,” she said.

“Over the time others have joined and there are some regulars that drop in and out and also some holiday makers that come for a one-off experience.

“I post a live clip of the sun rising and other people post their own 10 Minute experiences. “There are people in this group from all over the world.”

Ms Barron said throughout the upcoming 365 days many people had expressed their appreciation of the experience especially during COVID times.

“One message I received this week read: “I tell you these lovely views of the sand and the sea every evening in England have kept me going these last 11 months. Thank you!”

With just a few weeks left of the year long journey Ms Barron is planning on holding a celebration for the anniversary on March 23, 2021.

“We’ll get together at Elephant Rock at 6.45am to do some yoga please bring your own mat or towel and then we’ll watch the sunrise for 10 minutes and share some breakfast together.”

People are always welcome to join in person, live @jenbarrnyoga on Facebook or join the 10 Minutes at Sunrise group to connect with others.
