In a bid to get local businesses and the tourism economy back on track an exciting series of videos commenced production this week with creative entrepreneur Nic Betts behind the lens.

The project was made possible thanks to an $8,300 Tasmanian Government grant package delivered to the North-East Tasmania Chamber of Commerce (NETCC) earlier last month.

“These funds will support activities and services identified by the Chamber as essential to their region and includes administration support, localised marketing campaigns and enhanced social media promotion,” Minister for Small Business Sarah Courtney said.

The first spout of promotional video content began in Scottsdale featuring businesses, attractions, food and storylines which continued to Bridport, Derby, Branxholm, Tomahawk and more.

“These marketing activities will assist in communicating with customers and will promote the towns of Dorset and the region as a whole to stimulate the local economy,” NETCC President Cynthia Summers said.

The community will notice some familiar faces featuring in the campaign with Jason Burke and Zarina Caley stepping in as actors alongside local children and business owners.

Videographer Nic Betts said the project would involve 30 to 90 second punchy videos showcasing the region and its attractions.

“We’ve had two huge days of filming covering over twenty different storylines and places; I’m looking forward to editing it into a spicy piece to encourage those across our state and country to visit our slice of paradise,” he said.

Mrs Summers said the group will move swiftly on these campaigns to 'ready' Dorset for when intrastate travel is allowed.

“We are working on releasing the first video this month, keep an eye out and when you see it please share it everywhere – that’s how you can help!”
