Local girl Bree Philpot has returned to her roots taking a new position within the Dorset Council as their marketing operations manager.

The skilled professional previously held the role of partnership marketing manager for Tourism Northern Tasmania, leaving her position to pursue a newly created career within Council.

Mayor Greg Howard said her sole responsibility will be managing the Blue Derby brand including the website, social media platforms, Bookeasy accommodation system, marketing via video and imagery, national public relations and more.

“It’s a significant expansion of the social media role that Georgie Gow previously undertook for us a few hours a week,” he said.

“Her role will include social media for Blue Derby and Visit North-East Tasmania pages, and she will likely be based in Derby and have a hand in the collection of fees for interstate and international riders to ride the trails.”

Mayor Howard said Ms Philpot was highly experienced and a very competent operator within the tourism and business industry.

“She will be a great addition to the Dorset team, we are pleased to have her working for our community.

“Her presence creates opportunities for business owners and residents to liaise directly with her rather than through the current channels.

“This should free up some of the time that the senior staff currently put into the Derby model and allow them to focus on the rest of the community,” he said.

In an email distributed to Derby business owners yesterday Ms Philpot said her focus will be delivering marketing activities and initiatives to drive a financially sustainable funding model.

“I look forward to meeting you all soon,” she said.
