Springfield’s Will Hadley is taking the national show circuit by storm ahead of his return to the State to continue on his hunt for an elusive Tasmanian title.

Hadley has been studying a bachelor of animal science at the University of New England in Armadale, NSW, and has been working for various businesses to continue his cattle handling career on the sidelines while interstate.

He has just walked away from a successful showing at the Ekka in Brisbane, where he claimed the champion stud beef judge title, beating around 150 competitors.

He was working for Te-angie Poll Herefords while at the Royal Brisbane Show.

His success in the Sunshine State followed on from victory earlier this year at the Royal Sydney Show, where he claimed champion senior stud beef judge.

He had been working there for Target Livestock and Marketing showing Angus cattle.

“They are two of the biggest shows in the country as far as cattle goes and well and truly bigger than the Tasmanian shows!” he said.

“I was pretty proud. I have been doing it for a fair few years now so I have had lots of practice and it is starting to pay off. It is nice to hold my own at the big shows.”

Mr Hadley is looking forward to returning home shortly to compete locally.

He needs to win one of the Tasmanian shows to be eligible for the State Championship, which is always held as part of Scottsdale Show (which will this year be held on November 14 and 15).

He was the State Reserve Champion for junior cattle judging last year.

“I will be back showing my own cattle for the Tassie show circuit and doing as many as I can.

“Hopefully one day I will be able to represent Tasmania at the nationals.”
