More than 25 businesses in Scottsdale will continue trading into the evening this Friday night for shoppers to bag a bargain as part of the town’s annual Late Night Shopping event.

The North East Tasmania Chamber of Commerce initiative is now in its fifth year, encouraging people to support local businesses, especially as they stock up for Christmas.

NECC president Maria Branch said the evening is a great chance to get some great deals, while also appreciating the diverse retail opportunities in Scottsdale.

“We like to put this on so all the community can get together, shop locally and support each other,” she said.

“It’s nice just before Christmas especially, to make the most of what we have here in Dorset and appreciate it.

“It’s a chance to support businesses too that have gone through a rough time with Covid and have been trying to bounce back.

“You can also find the gifts that you might not be able to find in town, as we are unique in our stores and we are different to Launceston.”

Late Night Shopping also provides a shopping opportunity for people who might otherwise miss the local stores’ opening hours due to work.

With plenty of food, drink and entertainment available residents are encouraged to come along and make a night of it.

The McCallum family accompanied by a few friends will once again be singing Christmas carols throughout the evening and playing instruments for all to enjoy on the Uniting Church lawn from 5.30pm.

Roses Newsagency will be offering photos with Santa from 5.30pm with photos available to collect from Thursday December 15.

Head a long and make the most of the Late Night Shopping deals available throughout Scottsdale this Friday night.
