Keen bike riders will be thrilled to hear that Northeast Park is earmarked as the next location for a jump track in the upcoming Council Budget.

The idea to make something more permanent came after children had long been using a ‘home-made’ track on the ramp behind Pivot which got extremely wet in the winter time and was subject to trucks.

Mayor Greg Howard said Council had engaged with a number of children in the community about the best location.

“Initially we had looked at a site in the rail corridor behind the Pivot shed but following the feedback we received from the kids around the town we have settled on a site at Northeast Park.

“There is plenty of space down there and better drainage as the track will be built out of dirt.”

The approximate cost of the track will be about $50,000 with a portion of that beeing contributed by a private sponsor who is passionate about recreation activities and kids being outdoors.

The funds will be included in the 2022/23 budget and if passed will commence later in the year when the weather improves.
