The uptake of the flu vaccine has been strong this year, with around 800 people across the region already vaccinated.
Ochre Medical Centre Scottsdale are currently waiting for more government flu vaccines to arrive for patients aged over 65.
It’s hoped they will arrive on Friday or early next week.
Additional government vaccines for eligible people with chronic health conditions or who are immuno-suppressed are expected to arrive on Wednesday.
Since receiving their initial stock in early April, they have immunised approximately 600 people in our community.
Terry White Chemmart Scottsdale is currently out of stock and it’s unclear when more stock will become available.
From their initial delivery, more than 200 vaccines have been delivered to residents.
They have experienced a bigger demand than previous years, with people starting to purchase before April, prior to the usual May uptake.
Terry White Chemmart Scottsdale will advise customers when more vaccines are available.
While the flu can affect people of all ages, the people who are at highest risk of being hospitalised with flu are people over 65 years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander origin adults over 15 years, pregnant women, people with weakened immune systems, people who smoke and people who haven’t been vaccinated against the flu.
The flu vaccination can help prevent the flu but it does not protect against COVID-19.
