Blooms on show at Branxholm
February 01, 2023
As gardens around the region are blooming with colour, local green thumbs are encouraged to enter their floral pride and joy in the Branxholm Flower Show next weekend on February 11.
Displays of Gladioli and Dahlias will be a key attraction, with novice sections for those who have never won a prize in both classes, which is a great incentive for first time exhibitors to the show.
The floral art category is known for its creative arrangements and is definitely worth a look, along with the ‘other flowers’ section.
This year will see the return of the children’s category with 12 sections to enter, including floral arrangements, posies, decorated saucers, painting and drawing, and tray or novelty arrangements.
Photography will also make a comeback this year, with the theme ‘volunteering’ guiding entries in the nine sections: black and white, seascape, landscape, plant and animal study, human study, named Tasmanian scene, native flower, three photos of a related subject, and three photos of rural North-East.
There is a limit of three entries per exhibitor per section.
Light refreshments will be available to purchase throughout the show
There will also be raffles, cake and sweet stall along with fresh vegies and preserves.
Donations of preserves, cakes and sweets are most welcome on the day.
Entries for all sections must be in by 10am on the day ready for judging to start at 10.30am.
The hall will be open for exhibitors to drop off their displays on the Friday night at 6pm.
Presentations will be held at 2.30pm on Saturday.
Admission is $2.
