Farming is in the very bones of the Singline family with Nathan and Rebecca being the third generation to run Weld River Farm in Weldborough.
The mixed beef and dairy operation has changed a lot since it was purchased in 1952 by Bonnie and Wes Singline.
“Back then there was very little pasture, the farm has undergone extensive clearing and now we have a lot of clear land with plenty of pasture,” Nathan said.
After working for close to a decade as a wood machinist in Launceston Nathan decided to return home to work alongside his grandfather Wes, dad Kerry and uncle Peter on the farm.
“That was roughly fourteen years ago,” he said.
“I think after growing up on the farm it will always be in my blood, they say if you enjoy your job you will never work a day in your life and that’s how farming makes me feel.
“Working on the farm under the guidance of mum and dad and alongside my brother Mark and his wife Linda was the best decision we ever made.
“My favourite memory as a child would be going to work with my dad. It creates a special bond and he taught me to be a hard worker.
“We are enjoying these special times with our own little people now and life couldn’t get any better.”
Nathan is surrounded by a gang of beautiful girls with wife Rebecca and four daughters ranging in age from 7 to seven months old.
The couple love everything about the agricultural sector including the work, people and lifestyle.
Their aim is to keep improving what they have and are currently working on spraying, fertilising and annual weaning of vealers.
“The dairy cows will be dried off at the end of May so the next couple of months we’ll be doing jobs around the place getting ready for the beef cows to start calving in July and dairy cows in August!”
The pair say at the moment their eldest daughter Lacey would be most likely to continue the farm life when she grows up.
“She loves going to milk with her dad, although I must say none of them mind getting their hands dirty,” Rebecca laughed.

The Singline family have nominated Telita’s Kirsty and Ryan Davenport to feature in the next instalment of the Advertiser’s Farming Families Feature.
The continuous feature will aim to spotlight our special agricultural sector through the next generation's eyes with a little local farming history too.
